Faith in God

Query: Faith in God... I had a child who died of cancer. What I want to know why do one suffer at this very young age. I cannot believe that god could be so cruel as to deprive one mother of a child and bless another mother with that child. Sometimes I feel I am losing all faith in god. After praying so much and still your prayers don't get answered how can we keep beleiving that god is kind and just. God is our parent so how can he bear to see us in pain. Why do we get punished for sins that we cannot remember of our past lives.

Vijay Kumar:
If I told you... you were directly responsible for the death of your child and not god Almighty... how would it seem! Something unacceptable... why? Why in the first instance we started blaming god Almighty for our sufferings! God Almighty created the whole Cosmos... does not mean he becomes responsible for all the happenings in the world!

The whole Cosmos acts like a mighty computer... god Almighty always acting as a Dhrista (onlooker) never interfering with the creation of his!

Now I shall explain the phenomenon behind the death of young people... young children! The foremost of all reasons is... suppose the soul atman of your child in the previous birth manifested a form atman for a period of 60 years. Exactly at 53 years of age... circumstances so developed that this gentleman died probably because of similar disease.

Probably your soul manifested a form that could have saved that life or maybe not as the cure for cancer is not yet available. But somehow you were helpless in the previous birth. The soul of your child again took manifestation for only seven years to complete the circle of life from the previous manifestation. As you did not take care of that gentleman at 53 years of age... it left you midway... at seven years of age!

This is one possibility. The second possibility is the reversal of the roles in previous manifestation. Suppose the death of the body in the previous manifestation resulted owing to workings of your soul atman! Because of the workings of karma... the same soul atman manifested a form only for seven years and left you lurking in the dark to suffer... as it suffered in the previous manifestation! These are various possibilities explained by Bhagavad Gita.

The third possibility... which is very rare occurrence in the cosmic system... is accidental death of one! In all the three circumstances... none is to blame! If the death of someone occurs... knowingly or unknowingly... none is to blame in the matter... not even a single soul or human being is to blame... so says the Sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism! Why?

The workings of every individual soul atman are independent of all other souls' atmans! Because of the karmic bondage... different souls manifest life in the same family does not mean one is responsible for the other. Whatever the reason... none must blame self or god Almighty under any circumstances. So is not permitted by God Almighty!

Imagine if my best friend in this life has taken... rather manifested life only to kill me bodily in present life because I was the result of his death in the previous manifestation... what then! As per the Sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism... no two souls are directly connected to each other. As is our karma... so is our destiny!

Your young child left early not because of your workings in this or earlier life... it was simply destined! The workings of karma do not relate to one life alone. Whoever was born as your daughter in present life may have been your mother in one of the earlier manifestations. There is no limit to relationships as in the human form... the soul atman manifests a total of 1.1 million human forms in an earthly life cycle of 12.4 million years!

Foremost of all... we always need to keep in mind... our soul atman is the master and controller of the body... it is our soul atman that has manifested the human form to work out its karma... remove the dross impurities within! What value of human life of 70 to 80 years compared to a cosmic life span of 12.4 million years in the human form!

Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred of all scriptures existing on Mother Earth is absolutely clear about all parameters relating to the death of the body! As is the karma... accordingly is the destiny of the human form!

God Almighty is not the form of human beings. God Almighty is a massive celestial power... the cluster of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos at a given moment of time. God Almighty exists in every human being in minuscule form as our soul atman! As such... blaming god Almighty... a source of colossal celestial power does not mean anything!

Further as per the karmic theory... the soul atman of your young daughter would again manifest a form in the same family... absolutely unknown to one! Where is the cause for worry? In the circumstances we only need continuing performing our best karma... so that negative residual balance of karma from the previous manifestations can be neutralized.

We suffer... due to the presence of a negative residual balance of karma from the previous manifestations. Engaging in Punya karma (positive karma) all the time reaps its benefits!

Prayers do not fructify as we normally expect. We normally say our prayers one-sided. We never commit anything to God in return. On the path of self realization, I always prayed to God... I needed to see and meet god in this very life. Whatever god Almighty commanded of me in return... was always available... no questions asked!

Even if God Almighty had come to me disguised to sway my faith from God... I would never have dwindled at any stage of life! My faith in God Almighty was firm and absolute... it was hundred percent! None in the family or the world could have swayed me from the path!

Only when I pursued the path of self realization with the bulldog determination of Winston Churchill... with all eggs in one basket... did I gain realization of God in this life! Reading Bhagavad Gita literally... nothing may become clear to us! Only when we dive deep into the bottomless pit of spirituality... we unearth the pearls of wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita.
